Frequently Asked Questions

Does Kale Power have any added sugar?

No sugar is ever added to Kale Power. The 9-10 grams of sugar per serving is naturally occurring fructose and comes directly from the whole fruit and vegetables. When you drink one full 16oz meal size bottle (which contains 2 servings) you'll consume 18-20 grams of natural sugar. 8oz bottles have 9-10 grams of naturally occurring sugar.

Does Kale Power have fiber?

Yes! We know how beneficial natural plant fiber, loaded with vital microbes, is for our digestive system. Since we use the whole plant when we blend, Kale Power retains all the fiber. Each 16oz meal size bottle (which contains 2 servings) of Tropical Joy and Tropical Protein has 8 gram of fiber. There are 6 grams of fiber in a 16oz meal size bottle of Love Beets All. 8oz bottles contain 4 grams and 3 grams respectively.

Are Kale Power Smoothies Organic and Non-GMO?

  • Kale Power is made with organic whole kale. The banana, mango, and pineapple, we blend is also organic. The apples and beets in Love Beets All are conventional non-GMO.
  • Our special blend of superfood green protein powder, added to our Tropical Protein flavor, is 100% organic and vegan.
  • The dehydrated green veggies: kale, cabbage, broccoli and parsley added to  Tropical Joy and Tropical Protein is 100% organic.
  • Kale Power is Non-GMO, Soy Free, Dairy Free and Gluten Free!
  • All organic ingredients are listed with an asterisk in the ingredient list on the back of the bottle.

Can my kids drink Kale Power?

Absolutely! We’ve designed Kale Power's taste profiles to appeal to kids of all ages. Don’t tell the kids, but both Tropical flavor smoothies, include broccoli, cabbage, and parsley! Such a fun way to get kids to eat their greens, don’t you think? The 8oz size is a great kid-sized meal.

Why don’t you use glass bottles? And are your plastic bottles BPA free?

Interestingly plastic is a better choice for us than glass for the following reasons:

  • Plastic uses considerably less energy than glass to be recycled.

  • It is dramatically lighter than other bottle options, which means less fuel is used to create and deliver each bottle.

  • Our method of ensuring that the product is safe from bacteria is called Cold Pressure, or HPP.  This FDA approved method of pasteurization can only be done in a plastic container.

  • All Kale Power Smoothie bottles are 100% BPA free.

Why does the pulp in Kale Power separate?

Because Kale Power does not contain any artificial additives, the fiber from the whole food naturally separates due to different densities of the natural water and fiber of the whole food veggies and fruit.

What is HPP/Cold pressure?

We use Cold Pressure, also known as High Pressure Processing (HPP), instead of high heat, to extend shelf life & to help maintain essential vitamins, minerals & enzymes. HPP is also the only way to keep our whole food fresh-blended green drinks tasting fresh and fabulous and still be super-safe. Head on over to ColdPressured.org to learn more.

Why is HPP different than “heat pasteurization”?

Terms such as “Heat” pasteurization, “flash,” or “gently pasteurized” all refer to the traditional use of thermal technology to achieve microbial inactivation. In other words, products are cooked to kill bacteria and extend shelf-life. We choose not to heat pasteurize because it kills a lot of the “good” stuff along with the bad. Minerals, live enzymes, vitamins, and phytochemicals are all compromised when you heat fresh food whereas HPP effectively kills harmful microorganisms while maintaining the nutrient-dense integrity of a raw food. Gotta love that!

What do you use to blend the smoothies?

We use a really big blender! It's about ten times the size of a Vitamix blender and it allows us to lovingly handcraft each small batch in the tastiest, smoothest way while preserving the integrity of all our real whole-food ingredients.

Where is your production facility?

We handcraft each beloved batch of Kale Power in Sacramento. We are humans joyfully blending your fresh green smoothies.

How should Kale Power be stored?

Kale Power Smoothies are perishable, so you must keep them chilled in the fridge until you’re ready to enjoy. If you decide to throw one in your bag for an on-the-go future meal, they can be safe unrefrigerated up to about four hours. But it will not survive in a hot environment for very long. Be safe and keep and enjoy Kale Power cold.

Can I freeze Kale Power Smoothies?

Absolutely! If you choose to freeze bottles, please consider the following:

  • Expansion may occur when freezing, so be prepared for the bottles to expand along with the ingredients.

  • Look to see how many days are left before the expiration before you freeze, and then remember to drink the product within that same time frame after thawing. For example, if there are 10 days left before your bottle’s expiration when you freeze it, remember to drink it within 10 days after thawing.

  • Once thawed, give them a really good shake (30 seconds at least). This gets the smoothie back to its original yummy texture. Enjoy!
